How to determine which direction a window faces

1. Stand inside the room looking out through the glass.
2. Use a compass app (or the rising sun) to find which way you are facing.
3. That facing direction is the window direction — east means morning light on the glass, west means afternoon light.
4. Note nearby trees, screens, and overhangs; they matter as much as direction.

How to measure light at leaf height

1. Place the sensor where the leaves actually sit, not at the fixture.
2. Take a few readings across the plant canopy and note the typical range.
3. Prefer readings at the time of day you care about (morning for east windows, afternoon for west).
4. Enter the leaf-height value in measured mode for a tighter estimate.

How to read a grow-light PPFD chart

1. Find the manufacturer chart that lists brightness at several hanging heights.
2. Match the height you plan to use (or interpolate between two rows).
3. Use center values cautiously — edges are usually dimmer.
4. Enter those points in the height comparison tool or the runtime planner.
